My Chocolate Journey

You can say my love affair with chocolate began at a very young age. I could turn down the lollipops and taffy, gumballs, and sour candy, but I could never resist a piece of chocolate. I never missed the opportunity to step into a chocolate store. I would  revel in selecting my treats, savoring each bite with a twinkle in my eye. I didn't fully comprehend the true artistry of chocolate until I stumbled upon Michael Recchiuti's store in San Francisco's Ferry Building. The unique presentation and high quality of his confections were unlike anything I had ever encountered before.

Fast forward to 2021, where two significant events converged: the pandemic lockdown and my 50th birthday. It was then that I decided to pursue my passion for chocolate-making. In hindsight, I can think of worse ways to deal with a mid-life crisis than learning to become a chocolatier during a World Pandemic. And so came Mad Chocolates. The name was inspired by my daughter, Madison, whom I hope to inspire to follow her dreams with fearless determination. It's easy to find reasons not to pursue our passions, but we must be stronger than our doubts.

Creating chocolate collections has become my greatest joy, and I aspire to spread happiness one delicious bite at a time.
